If Dan Burden were redesigning Shawnee, there would be fewer parking lots and lots more trees.
And traffic circles — he loves traffic circles, or roundabouts.
That’s what a group of 30 or so community leaders learned Tuesday morning when Burden led a walking tour of downtown Shawnee as latest step in establishing a Blue Zones project here.
Simply put, Blue Zones is an international effort to help Americans lead longer, healthier lives. It began in 2009 in a small town in Minnesota and is now in more than 30 communities across the United States. It was brought to Shawnee by the Avedis Foundation.
